Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the level of Self-Regulated Learning Strategies (SRLS) among accounting students at Shah Alam Polytechnic, Kota Melaka Polytechnic, and Port Dickson Polytechnic. The research objective is to specifically observe of SRLS characteristics among those students. The areas of focus are understanding subject contents, motivation, metacognitive, learning strategy, context sensitivity and usage of external sources. The research instruments used to collect data were through the distribution of questionnaires to one hundred eighty respondents. Thereafter, all data were analysed using Microsoft Excel. The research findings were presented using min distribution graphs together with their interpretations. The method of sampling were Stratified Sampling. The research findings indicated that semester one and semester six students used the SRLS but the scores were not satisfying. Among suggestion to increase SRLS were to increase the level understanding in subject contents, developing and increasing motivation, guidance to choose learning strategies, increase of metacognitive abilities, development of contextual sensitivity and increasing the usage of external sources among the polytechnics students.
