Abstract
Child labor remains a persistent issue in Malaysia. deeply rooted in socio--economic, cultural, and legal challenges. This paper explores the multifaceted dynamics of child labor, focusing on its prevalence, root causes, and impacts on children's well-being. It hightlights the interplay of poverty, lack of access to quality education, and cultural norms in perpetuating exploitative child labor practices, particularly in rural and marginalized communities, including the palm oil sector. The psychological, physical, and educational consequences of child labor are examined, emphasizing the detrimental effects on children's health, mental well-being, and future opportunities. Education is identified as a cornerstone in combating child labor, with the provisionof free, accessible, and quality education serving as a privotal strategy for breaking the cycle of proverty and exploitation. Adressing barriers such as economic constraints and insufficient educational infrastructure is critical to reducing reliance on child labor. The paper underscores the importance of economic alternatives, including vocational training and skill development programs, to mitigate the economics necessity driving families to engage their children in labor. The conclusion emphasizes a multidimensional approach to eradicating child labor, involving poverty alleviation, cultural transformation, robust legal enforcement, and community collaboration. By prioriting these strategies, Malaysia can foster a child-labor-free society where children have the opporturnity to learn, grow and contribute meaningfully to national development. This research advocates for a sustained commitment to education, economic empowerment, and social protection to safeguard children's right and enhance their well-being, ensuring a more equitable and prosperous future for all.
