Abstract

The research study was carried out for the safety of road workers in order to avoid incidents or hazards in the direct emergency line on the highway through the implementation of a danger detection sensor device. The distance sensor detected the object or dangerous vehicle from behind at a certain distance and sent the signal output via the siren device and emergency light, which were mounted at the maintenance vehicle. In additional, the device sent signal to the receiver to alert the employee about danger situation by vibrating the vibrator motor that installed at the worker’s arm. In this study, further details on effectiveness of reliability test on the transmitter and receiver of Signal Warning Detection (SWAD) System was discussed. This experimental study was done to find the best parameter setting due to the effectiveness before the device was approved to use for highway maintenance worker. SWAD system had been successfully developed in detecting the dangerous situation for maintenance highway worker for their safety working environment.
