Abstract
A study on the species composition and abundance of small mammals was carried out in Endau Rompin Johor National Park (ERJNP). Endau Rompin Johor National Park (ERJNP) is known as an old tropical rainforest and one of the largest protected areas in southern Peninsular Malaysia. The methods applied was harp trapping, mist netting and baited-cage trapping in two selected sampling areas which are Nature Education & Nature Centre (NERC) and Kuala Jasin (KJ). A total of 103 individuals comprising 9 species from five families were recorded. From this, 58 individuals or 57% were bats, 22 individuals (21%) were shrew, 21 individuals (20%) were rats and 2 individuals (2%) were squirrel. This could be a reference to propose better management and conservation efforts.
