Abstract

With elastic emission machining (EMM), it is possible to easily complete a workpiece into any shape by using elastic fracture of atomic size when doing numerically controlled ultra-precision machining. Ultra-fine powder particles are used as an instrument. When water and powder particles are combined, the slurry’s fluid lubrication state is used to force only the residue particles to interact with the job’s surface. As so, damage-free removal of atomic sizes is accomplished. The interaction between the powder particle surfaces and metal surface is taken into consideration when analyzing the metal removal mechanism. A method that is very similar to chemical etching is proposed for the removal of the substrata’s surface atoms. The principle, mechanism, advantages, and disadvantages of elastic emission machining are described in the article.
