Abstract

Different commercially available materials with a vast diversity in the dielectric constant (er) and loss tangent (tand) properties are used to design infinite I reflectarray antennas and their performance in terms of bandwidth and reflection loss is observed. The performance of reflectarray design for different materials is also compared in terms of Figure of Merit (FOM). The dielectric permittivity (er) of materials used ranges between 2.08 to 13 and the loss tangent (tand) values vary from 0.0003 to 0.025. It has been observed that the 20% attainable bandwidth varies from 126MHz to 540MHz and the figure of merit has a range from 0.209"/MHz to 0.759 "/MHz based on the material used for design of reflectarray antenna. The results are then verified by theoretical equations.
