Abstract

Fiber-based all-optical regeneration has good prospect for high bit-rate networks. However, it is challenging to simultaneously regenerate multi-channel signals in a single fiber. In Ref.[1], we have reported an experiment of 2ch x 10Gbit/s signal regeneration based on time-interleaving and higher-order four-wave mixing (FWM) in a single highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF). Here, we numerically study its operation at 40Gbit/s/ch and discuss the limitation in increasing the number of channels.
