Abstract

The effects of inclination angle, Richardson number and sinusoidal heating on top moving lid on fluid flow and heat transfer in a two-dimensional rectangular liddriven cavity with aspect ratio five are analyzed numerically. The vertical walls are insulated, the bottom wall is maintained at cold temperature while the top lid is heated sinusoidally. The dimensionless governing equations for the two dimensional velocity and temperature field are solved using finite volume method and SIMPLE algorithm. The profiles of streamlines and isotherms, and the variations of Nusselt number on hot and cold walls are presented. The numerical finding indicate that the flow and temperature fields are not affected by the cavity inclination when the flow is in a forced convection dominated regime. However, the cavity inclination has significant effect on the fluid flow and temperature fields when the flow is in a natural convection dominated regime.
