Abstract

This paper discuss about the mental health problem among the Malaysian Technical University (MTU). The purpose of this study was to produce a profile of mental health problem among the MTU students from the aspect of gender, year of study and field of study. A total numbers of 450 students were randomly selected as the sample in this study by using a stratified random sampling technique. The instrument used for this study was adopted from the DASS-21 inventory. The gathered data were analyzed by using frequencies, percentage, mean score, standard deviation, Independent T-test, one-way ANOVA and LSD post-hoc test. The results showed that there is a significant difference in mental health problem from the aspect of year of study and field of study. As a conclusion, intervention program needs to be conducted to overcome the mental health problem in order to help the students to achieve better academic performance.
