Abstract

The article attempts to trace the beginning of the concept of Jokowi effect and melodramatic society, the dominant meaning and discourse, and its implications for politics and government in Indonesia. Ahead of the 2014 general election, melodramatic behavior of the community should be a concern. Although it is said that the successful leader is one who managed to keep the character of melodramatic society, where the melodramatic referring to the behavior of voters who strongly influenced the assessment is not deep, blue confuse, and easy to change, but Joko Widodo, familiarly called Jokowi brought many changes in the political culture of Indonesian society. In the history of politics in Indonesia, the figure is more important than party or political institutions. Indonesia is a country with the location of the power concentrated in Java. Not surprisingly, officials in Indonesia generally have a lifestyle and behavioral leadership feudalism, like the Javanese kings who liked to be served, elusive and rarely go directly to the community. Such behavior is described by the government habit who prefer to work behind the counter and receive reports from subordinates. But in 2014 appeared a figure Jokowi is quite phenomenal leader, populist and close to the people. Of the track record of political journey Jokowi traversed with blusukan leadership model, has indirectly Jokowi closer to the people of Indonesia that leadership style Jokowi Jokowi has led to the highest seat of leadership, becoming president of the VII of the Republic of Indonesia.
