Abstract
Salacca zalacca is in the genus of Arecaceae, a palm tree family. Generally, the Arecaceae family consist of approximately 185 genera with 2522 species. In Malaysia, the well-known species in this family are Cocos nucifera (locally known as Kelapa or coconut), Areca catechu (locally known as Pinang), Elaeis guineensis (locally known as Kelapa Sawit or oil palm) and Nypa fruticans (locally known as Nipah or mangrove palm).
