Abstract

Many companies today tend to pick their staff of different skills from various locations for certain project. The distance between the staff members creates a problem in communication, but it is no longer an issue in today’s working environment. A team can easily communicate virtually through phones, emails and video conferencing, which can save both time and money. A virtual team is an evolutionary form of a network organization which consists of people working in different location but work towards the same objectives. Today, virtual teams are widely accepted in many organizations and becoming an integral part of organizational life. A few organizations have started to use virtual team in Malaysia, but the information and details about the team is quite limited. There were only five past researches about virtual team in the Malaysian context. The lack of research indicates the needs to explore virtual team further.
