Abstract

The prospects of oil resources and emission gas from fossil fuel consumption have raised keen attention as urgent problems around the world. As one of the different solutions to these problems, emulsions of diesel and water are often promoted as being able to overcome the difficulty of simultaneously reducing emissions of both oxidizes of nitrogen (NOx) and particulate matter from diesel engines. There have many technologies to overcome the emission but some of the technology not very effective to overcome the problem. In this work, the effect of water oil emulsions on the mixture formation, burning process and emission was studied. In this research how the water emulsified can change the mixture formation and how the burning process happened on the water emulsion and by using this method it is can reduce the pollution also studied. The function of the water is to reduce the temperature of the engine. When the temperature is decrease the NOx also decrease. Hence, the particulate matter (PM) will also decrease due to burning process. The results reported here suggest that the water emulsification has a potential to slightly improve the brake efficiency and significantly reduce the formation of thermal NOx, soot's, hydrocarbons and PM in the diesel engine.
