Abstract

This book offers some aspects of the law of giving in Islam that comprise instruments whereby individual property, voluntarily or through operation of law, is given to others. It also relates to part of wealth management, which may give a wider perspective of the subject to the professionals of the field. It discusses the gifts (waqf, hibah, and wasiyah) or transmission of property (mawarith) from living or deceased persons that are either made to the relatives of the donors or the poor of the society or both. The compilation of the works is for the benefit of beginners as well as advanced readers. The authors have given their perspectives on Islamic law, Islamic redistributive mechanism of waqf, its concepts and modes. It also touches on management, new sources of waqf funds, financing of higher education through waqf funds, enhancing the products and utility of waqf assets for current and future needs of the society, and waqf housing. Two last chapters discuss estate identification method and application of hibah and wasiyah in Malaysia.
