Abstract

This paper describes the detailed procedures on the simulation techniques of air breakdown to evaluate the associated electric field values. Using COMSOL Multiphysics, the value of maximum electric field and its most likely location which appears just before a breakdown occurs can be determined. A non-uniform field configuration in rod-plane gap provides very high electric field upon breakdown.
