Abstract

This chapter discusses the use of waste ceramic tiles as a partial replacement of fine aggregate in concrete. This can potentially prevent environmental pollution and encourage sustainable and cost-saving construction. Tests were conducted to study the durability of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% of waste ceramic tiles as a replacement of fine aggregate in concrete. The study deals with the effects of ceramic tiles on water absorption, workability and the compressive strength concrete. The optimum percentage of waste ceramic tile to be used in the concrete mix is determined when the maximum value of compressive strength is obtained.
