Abstract

The development of WEBCD in an engineering laboratory work is beneficial in several ways such as providing learners with in an economical, safe and simple way to visualize and to explore the various aspect of the actual laboratory work situation. In addition to that, this project is aimed at identifYing the features needed in a WEB CD development so that an engineering laboratory work WEBCD can be developed. The Geotechnical Laboratory WEBCD, which was developed based on needs analysis was evaluated, examined the extend to which the product fulfills the needs of students. Questionnaires distribution method was used where questionnaires were designed based on past research along with the observations and experiences. Forty students and twenty lecturers from KUiTTHO's engineering department were selected as samples for the first stage ofthe project, which is were analysed. Forty students from KUiTTHO's Civil Engineering Departments were selected as samples for the third stage of the project, which is for product evaluation. Through product evaluation, a conclusion was arrived, that the product successfully fulfilled the needs of students in time management and teaching strategy. However, some recommendations were given by the respondents for further research. Further research should be done on enhancing the features of the WEBCD such as simulation. In addition to that, further research on integration of WEBCD with an online conferencing should be carried out to further enhance the use of ICT in education.
