Abstract

Human capital development is an effort to produce good students who are knowledgeable, skilled, innovative, identity, ethical , educated , trained and have a work accordingly. The approach should be oriented holistically and emphasize the development of knowledge, skills and intellectual. Holistic development requires the involvement of students in both academic and co-curricular activities . Involvement in non-academic programs indirectly enliven student's life on campus. However, many people think that students involvement through extra-curricular activities are not important and waste a lot of time compared to the activities involving academic. This paper will discuss the holistic student development from the physical, emotional , spiritual , intellectual and social aspect.Therefore, this study was undertaken to investigate the dominant factors that contribute to the holistic student development during the implementation process of extra-curriculum activities in polytechnic in addition to reviewing the effects of extra-curricular activities among polytechnic's students in promoting the holistic student development.
