Risk management is important in the sports industry to provide and ensure a safe environment for each sport program. Sports risk management aims to control, prevent and minimize the risk of accidents and injuries. Developed countries such as Australia and United Kingdom have been the adoption of standard risk management models. This shows that organizations that offer or implement programs or sports activities, sports management model is very important and there should be a standard model. However, educational institutions in Malaysia do not have a standard sports risk management model that can be used by teachers, lecturers and administrators to create a zero-risk sports in sport and to increase participation in sports. This study was undertaken to identify the constructs of sports risk management practices competent coach for the construction of models of risk management practices competent coach sports. In determining construct, Classic Test Theory (CTT) using qualitative methods through two approaches are used, namely, (i) based on an analysis of documents by making literature review, and (ii) an interview. Pilot study analysis is using Rasch model to ensure that the items are built to meet Rasch measurement model procedure and can produce items that can measure the constructs that had been formed. It aims to determine the functionality of the items from the following areas: (i) reliability and item-respondent isolation, (ii) polarity items, (iii) the appropriateness of items, (iv) the value of the standardized residual correlation in determining the dependent items, and (v) the distribution of item difficulty level and ability of respondents. Based on the findings of the analysis of documents and interviews, the constructs of risk management practices identified are (i) identification, (ii) assessment, (iii) the selection of operations, and (iv) implementation. Through the pilot study analysis, the value of the items was 0.98 and 0.71. Cronbach alpha value was 0.99. It is proved and confirmed that the constructs and items are able to measure what is to be measured. The conclusion from this study, the construct has been obtained and confirmed that sports risk management practices construct.
