Abstract

This paper presents design study, and performance analysis of single-phase field excitation flux switching machine with segmental rotor for conventional fan applications. The stator of proposed machine consists of iron core made of electromagnetic steels, armature coils and field excitation coils as the only field flux source. The rotor is composed of only stack of iron with segmented design and hence, it is robust and suitable for various speed operation. The design target is a machine with the maximum torque, power, and the maximum speed more than 0.4Nm and 60W, and 1465r/min, respectively, which competes with induction motors used in an existing conventional fans
