Abstract

The power of Geographic Information System (GIS) has been demonstrated in many previous study in various field of study. In this study GIS was integrated with watershed model known as Soil and Water Assessment Tools (SWAI) to model the stream flow of the Sembrong River, Malaysia. In this study the main objective of this study to test the applicability of SWAT in modeling the stream flow in selected study area. Several required parameters are needed to run the model which are meteorological data, land use, soil type, and topography maps. Through the processing the sub-basin was generated that consist of unique value to increase the performance of results. Then, the model was calibrated and validated to ensure that the generated result is acceptable. The calibration and validation based on the 12 was used as the main reference to validate the model. Based on the 12 value, the value is more than 90%o which is 0.9161 that conclude that the result is acceptable and reliable. Overall, reviewing the results it seems that overestimate and underestimate values are within the acceptable range. As a conclusion, the simulated stream flow was within the acceptable for the Sembrong watershed and this model is suitable to be used as a platform to predict the future changes.
